The National Council on Ethics in Human Research
(NCEHR) was founded in 1989 to support the interpretation and implementation
of ethical guidelines on research involving human subjects. Since
its creation, NCEHR has served an advisory role to local institutional
Research Ethics Boards (REBs), which assess the ethical acceptability
of research with human subjects, and has generally sought to foster
education, dialogue and understanding on research ethics. Council
publications include a journal, NCEHR Communiqué, proceedings from
national workshops, bibliographies and study papers.
